The Kite Chair by Shin Azumi for Fornasarig
“It looks like a traditional box kite,” says the description of the lovely Kite Chair by Shin Azumi made for the Italian contract furniture company, Fornasarig. “At first glance, this slender lounge appears to be too fragile to sit in. However, due to its masterly construction, the slim seat is able to support a significant weight in a comfortable and relaxed way. Sitting on it, one fells embraced and like floating in the breeze.”

Lightweight and Angular, the Kite Chair by Shin Azumi for Fornasarig Continues to Wow at Salone 2011
Earlier this spring at the 2011 Salone del Mobile, design reporters raved of the entire Fornasarig collection. These excitable comments have flashed around blogs and websites like Apartment Therapy even though the Kite Chair was previously introduced for the first time back in 2008. The combination of the wood and textiles have been a hite since its release in 2008, and with plenty of ways to spice up the look this season, the showroom sparkled with the delicate, structural beauty that Azumi’s chair adds to their collection.
The lightweight construction of this 28″ high, 26″ wide beech chair offers plenty of finishing and upholstery options that range from wood staining and lacquers to Kvadrat fabrics and leather, making it the perfect chair to lean back slightly for a lounge with a customized touch.
Fornasarig is the only Italian company that manufactures chairs and accessories exclusively for the Contract field. Chairs, sofas and tables for hotels, restaurants, theatres, schools, libraries, conference rooms, ships: places for the collectivity. With the Design Seating for Design Eating project, the company begins a new phase, adopting Design as a methodological choice for its future, which does not exclude the possibility of a commercial extension towards the domestic market.
