Slip into the Clip Chair by Oliver Deichmann and Blasius Osko for Moooi
“Whilst strolling around a Bulgarian market, a small, foldable basket caught our attention,” designers Oliver Deichmann and Blasius Osko reflect. “Single slats were beaded on ropes to form two hinged surfaces, which could be transformed into a curved three-dimensional object. We improved this stunning mechanism, both technically and visually, to create a foldable lounge chair.”

That initial spark was all it took to ignite the design of the captivating Clip Chair design that would end up on Moooi‘s prestigious line-up shortly after. Made from solid beech wood with all stainless steel fixings, it comes stained in wenge or lacquered in white and black. When it’s not being used, the Clip can be folded up completely flat and stored easily. But when open and recommended for interior use, they’d then say that, “its straight identical slats form a spacious seating space of supreme comfort.”
The Clip Chair collection of different finishes all come in the same low seat height of 11.81″. It’s overall height is just 28.15″ while the depth lengthens its stature at a relaxing 33.46″. Although the simple design is practical, for intents and purposes, it is also highly artistic in both folded and open form, finding the appreciation for its design in both public and private spheres of interior projects.
Oliver Deichmann and Blasius Osko met each other at the Berlin University for the Arts where they studied Industrial Design together from 1996 to 1998. In 1998 they established the design firm “wunschforscher” which they later transformed into Osko+Deichmann. They have contributed items for the collections of Kundalini, Moooi, Elmar Flototto and Ligne Roset.
