Beckon the Bunky Bed by Mark Newson for Magis

I grew up sleeping on a bunk bed we got from a garage sale. It was solid wood, sturdy, and perfect to the twin sister who won the coin toss and got the top bunk. However, I think my vision of its stylish nature was clouded over my by competitive one. Especially after viewing the latest modular bunk beds by Magis that designer Mark Newsom calls Bunky.

Hip New Bunkbed Design by Mark Newsom for Magis Breathes Form and Shape Into the Modular Structure

Newsom designed the stacked beds as a modular structure that is formed using just four different pieces. The beds can be taken apart and used individually just as easily as they can be put back together again, – making it an easy decision for middle children like myself to figure out how they want their bedroom setup.

Visually, the color scheme is vibrant and playful, using three shades of blue in a super smooth surface. The material itself is made safe enough for children to play and sleep, super simple to wipe clean, and leaves no sharp edges on the ladder or sides of the beds. Between the two beds the middle portion contains holes that allow for maximum airflow from top to bottom. As it would seem, the Bunky by Mark Newsom for Magis is the ultra hip, tech-savvy version to my old-fashioned favorite that I’d welcome into the design of a modern space for kids any day.
