An ICFF Preview: The Burn Floor Lamp by Oso Industries
Eric Weil was in part seduced into the art of concrete manufacturing after studying the art and craft of woodcarving in Ghana. Following his experience abroad, Weil went to New York City and found himself swept away by the sculpting and molding processes. In 2003 his passions turned into the private practice he calls Oso Industries – a design company thrilled to present their latest, Burn Floor Lamp, to the world of ICFF this weekend.

Strong and Bright, the Burn Floor Lamp Compliments the Oso Industries ICFF Line-Up
An exploration of textures and materials, the Burn Floor Lamp capitalizes on Weil’s expertise in polished, blackened concrete. In this particular product, it mimics charred wood and is topped delicately with a linen shade with dark steel accents.
Previously, we covered Weil’s Burn Table Lamp that was a heavy-hitter at the Brooklyn Designs show since it applied the same texture to the refined lighting fixture. Available in ten different colors and utilizing the strength of LED light bulbs, this 64.25” tall, 32” wide (shade) is beautiful in form and function – since its bulbs require just 32 watts of power.
Oso Industries continues to find new uses for concrete with new colors and textures. They’re focused on new applications of concrete for furniture and custom interior design, but are inspired by urban living in Brooklyn and abroad. The sculptor and founder, Eric Weil, take great pride in their hand-crafted goods that come in vastly unique, geometric forms.
