The New Colors Collection by New Firm Bottinger & Roi
If the name alone hasn't tipped you off, one look at the landing page of Bottinger and Roi's new Colors Collection of bath fittings and sanitary ware certainly will. The image shows an incipient canvas with the early embellishments of thick splotches of orange, white, and robin's egg blue. The photo puts me in mind of Jackson Pollock, which is actually a bit of mis-direction, since the Colors collection is not messy at all, but rather perfectly symmetrical and ideally contrapuntal… an apt symbiosis of functional form and vivid vivacity.

The Many Hues of Bottinger & Roi's Colorful Basins, Shelves, and Vanities
The Colors Collection of bath fittings provides all your Impressionist's heart desires for outfitting the bathroom of your dreams. The featured pieces alternately display a linear predisposition or a yen for the winsome curve. And it's the juxtaposition of these varied shapes that gives Colors its distinctive personality. The Loft Basin, for instance, is a singular washstand with a base like a Surrealist's thought bubble, a shaft like a slanty branch, and a subtly asynchronous basin. But put it in league with a beautiful blue background, and the ensemble calms down and comes alive. Then there's the Tueba Basin. With its insistent and mesmerizing cylindricality this piece virtually compels one to approach and wash. Or for good measure we've got the Cezanne Basin and Shelf-a one-two punch of a monolithic black countertop slab and blindingly white oval basin. All of these demonstrate that B&R's Colors goes beyond that simplistic moniker to not only offer the pronounced element of visual appeal, but also a bevy of intriguing and alluring shapes.

About the Manufacturer: Netherlands-based Botinger & Roi is no mere manufacturer but rather an "international lifestyle company active on the international market of luxury goods." This clever primer foregrounds the company's comely collection of shelves, cabinets, basins, washstands, and fittings for the bathrooms of tomorrow-and today, if luck should have it. Founded by architectural engineer/developer/designer Boudewijn Roest, the company is a bit of a newbie on the A&D scene, but they've made an entrance with considerable aplomb. This holds in regard to the great splash created by their recent Colors Collection and also concerning their auspicious launch, in which a seven-week campaign to distribute more than 50,000 flyers in 15 European cities drew some 200,000 hits on their new site.
