100% Suspended Lamp by Ross Lovegrove
Ross Lovegrove is expanding his collection of minimalist light fixtures with the 100% suspended light which was released at Milan Design Week for Italian brand Danese. The new light improves on the 100% lamp, which was released in 2009. Conceptually, the fixtures pull the inner circuitry to the outside surface and jazz it up with a fancy printed circuit board.

The fixture is composed of a thin sheet of aluminium that is 5mm thick which holds an LED strip light. The LEDs are mounted to a flexible printed circuit that regulates light emission and also has an interesting dimmer strip that eliminates the silly slider that is typical with most dimmable fixtures. Not only is the amount of material used minimal, the aluminium is also recycled and recyclable.
The suspension system is based on a patented suspension system which allows the fixture to float effortlessly. Each module can function alone, or they can be combined to create an array of designs and sizes that work as a unit. The pieces fit at 180, 120, 90 angles to give ultimate freedom of arrangement.
As a piece of sustainable lighting, the 100% suspended light is lightweight, recyclable, and easy to disassemble into its component parts. Not to mention LED lights are energy efficient in themselves. Considering the technical nature of the design, the finished piece is quite elegant.
