In this week’s Top Ten list, we will hold the lack luster hostage and replace the buffet tables of centuries past with those of the present. With plenty of matching pieces in the Chesapeake Collection by Pottery Barn, this FSC-certified Eucalyptus wood Buffet is great for indoor or outdoor dining. Using one solid piece of maple wood, the Water front buffet doors are made using hand carving technique before they get separated intodoors and drawer fronts. Completing the look, Peter Francis Design uses dove tail construction, ball bearing drawer glides and hidden latches with the help of the skilled manufacturing at Saloom Furniture. A modern, stilted overall look, the Water Front finds tradition in the buffet legs – using a precision miter joinery system that reinforces the standing strength of the buffet with solid cherry splines.

7. DR-33

There’s something rad about this industrial looking buffet table that inspired its insertion in this Top Ten list. Perhaps its the Pumiced Aluminum material with it’s glow that seems sleek yet “rough around the edges”, or the fact that it can be custom manipulated using a wood finish and created in custom sizes. Whatever it is, I adore the modern simplicity of the DR-33 by Antoine Proulx that can be used with a driftwood dining room table as easily as one made from tempered glass and steel.

8. Louis XV Commode

With the Louis XV Commode’s dual purpose as a wine rack and buffet, you might already be in heaven with its ability to serve and store. However, the vast material options of this Axis Form Lab piece are what makes it truly inspiring! Choose between a furniture grade plywood with an oak surface, MDF with white gloss enamel, rainbow colored veneer, or clear acrylic and its effect shifts from the transparent to the the brilliant and eclectic.
