New for 2011: Royal Botania Surfs It Up in an Outdoor Swingbed

When I saw the reaction onlookers in New York City had to the Wave last year at ICFF – many who ran up and sat in line for an hour or so, others who took out their cameras, and the mastermind who made a bid for the complete unit so they’d get to relive that day forever – I knew Royal Botania would have something else up their sleeve. What I didn’t expect was to see was a design they are calling Surf already stifling patio seating competition for the second year in a row!

The Surf Is Officially In for 2011: The Latest Swingbed by Kris Van Puyvelde for Royal Botania

Designed by Kris Van Puyvelde for Royal Botania, Surf uses electro-polished stainless steel and a hammock-like seat with an oblong canopy that may have you looking at lakefront or oceanside homes as an accompaniment.  Like a piece of art, the Surf moves with the wind ever so elegantly, showing off the option of a static base or as a base on wheels. Coming in a smaller size than the grandiose Wave swing, this ideal napping contraption still fits two people comfortable.

Add it to any pre-existing outdoor decor to reveal the exquisite insight you have into what every guest who passes through your backyard may be looking for out of life itself. Even without the deeper meaning shrouded in comfort, the Surf is the stylish, sun lounger for anyone who has appreciated the art of hammocks with a modern twist.

Due to the innovation of Van Puyvelde using a somewhat circular design, the shady swing unit can be placed on flat ground anywhere you wish to put it. As their website clearly states, the Surf is figuratively “halfway between heaven and earth”.
