Bring NASCAR Home with Scrap Metal Benches by Bevara Design House
We talk a lot about sustainability by using terminology that sounds like products are having an impact on the environment. Bevara Design House doesn’t try to hide the reality of their products behind sustainable terminology, but instead they provide a “green” term dictionary to insure their clients are well informed. I appreciate information and honesty when companies present eco-criteria, as many industries (especially design) are lacking concrete definitions for sustainability. Often I see products that claim recycled content, only to find out the recycled content is a negligible percentage, or the effort is a promise for the future that hasn’t yet been executed.
Scrap Metal Bench. Designed by Bevara Design House.
Bevara Design House produces a series of furniture and housewares that fall under the categories Slatt, Skin, Slab, and Spice which defines their material makeup and relative sustainability. Depending on your aesthetic preference, responsibly grown, regionally harvested wood, Eco-concrete or reclaimed wood may be the base for your Bevara furniture. A line of tables and benches made from NASCAR remnants offers a second life for post-industrial waste. Each metal sheet is laser-cut with a designed pattern that is bent to create table bases or benches that are then finished with a power coat. The pieces can be topped with a glass, wood or natural fiber reinforced concrete tabletop to fit any programmatic use. The collection is reminiscent of traditional wrought iron work with a modern eco-flair. The most elegant or minimalist spaces could find a way to bring NASCAR home.
