Add Solid Ethics to Your Interior Palette with the Hand Knotted, Nature-Inspired GoodWeave Rugs by Tania Johnson Designs
In addition to her other designs that debuted at the ICFF show of 2010, the four new, hand knotted rug designs add a much needed earthy flavor to her assortment. As our friends at otto-otto remark of Tania Johnson Design’s Drops of Light, Reflected Trees, Branches, and Textured Daisy rugs, “The earthy but contemporary patterns are inspired by intricate details of nature – among them delicate plays of light, shadows and reflection”.
Drops of Light captures the essence of falling nuances of light in a wool and silk blend of 200 hand knots per inch at a 3mm pile. Reflected Trees was a 4mm pile designed to look like the reflections on a lake with the use of wool and silk in single knots. Varying the percentages of silk and wool in each knot throughout the rug, they seem to move and shimmer at 200 knots per inch. Branches resembles tree branches in the rain that are being looked at through a gauzy mesh. Using pure silk (no wool) this intricate rug deisgn uses 100 knots per inch and a 4mm pile to come to life. Lastly, the Textured Daisy looks like the shadow of its flower on a stony path, as Johnson words it. Subtle colors are blurred together and knotted with wool and silk at 200 hand knots per inch with a 3mm pile.
