The Right Angle Mirror by Daniel Rybakken for Ligne Roset
has done numerous projects with aluminum, LED lights, and irregular dimensions. In fact, his latest Right Angle Mirror prototype from 2010 was what he calls “an unexpected aesthetic dimension, the reflections and shadows cast on surrounding walls. Curves touching the wall create the illusion of suspension in space”.

For the unprecedented Norwegian designer whose popularity in the design world was sparked with multiple awards in 2007 – before he even finished his Master of Fine Arts in Design degree – light and angles are key. The CNC-milled mirror is made from a single piece of aluminum that is then polished and chrome-plated. It’s simplistic design caught the eye of Ligne Roset, who has brought it on as part of their 2011 collection that is currently at the IMM Cologne show.
The Right Angle Mirror is described by Rybakken as a by-product of his Aluminum Mirror prototype from 2009. The initial design came with multiple angles of reflection/composition on the monochromatic palette Rybakken is known for. It had four different wall-mounting options as well as a wider base ideal for freestanding positions. In a much lighter version designed to stand perpendicular to your wall, the Right Angle Mirror is perfect for a last minute bat of the eyes and glance at the hairdo on your way out, or as a functional, yet artistic piece in any wide hallway.
