Mobile Offices Rejoice! The Mobi Tech by Andrea Ruggiero for Abstracta
As our TV screens and computer monitors evolve into thin, high tech models, the media centers that house their clear images should continue the shift from bulky to beautiful. Often times, however, it’s a Goldilocks story: Massive, wooden cabinets that protect your screen from nuclear warfare are too old-fashioned, yet a simple, powder-coated steel shelf leaves it too vulnerable. Andrea Ruggiero, a New York-based designer the Swedish manufacturer, Abstracta, recently designed three units that can do your flat screen’s warranty and 21st century style a little justice.

Update Your Media Center with the Modern Mobi Tech Table by Andrea Ruggiero for Abstracta
Launched at the Orgatec show in October this year, this Mobi Tech computer/media unit on wheels that accompanies the original Mobi work station table design, the Rover mobile storage drawer that comes with a blind, and the Isla portable high table and its privacy screen. Whether you opt for one or all of the above, Abstracta’s Mobi series can provide your home or office space with the option of being mobile and modern, yet warm. According to their website, the Mobi series allows users to “move their work stations easily to be part of a temporary working group, or turn their table to gain some privacy.” In other words, versatility is one factor. The other is ample, attractive protection. In addition to its cradling appearance of a curved screen behind the monitor, your Mobi Tech also shows off a vibrant solid color to emphasize its artistic element within the low sideboard on wheels.
Generally speaking, Abstracta says that their focus “develops and markets products for visual communication and creative interior design.” They seek to challenge both private and public companies and governmental or educational institutions to think outside of the box (literally, go for curved furnishings!) and opt for designs that stand the test of time and trends.
If the time to put your heavy media monster on craigslist has come – and it has – consider the mandarin shade of a Mobi Tech as the vehicle that will compliment the tech-savvy features of your flat screen.
