Hi-Yo, Silver! Front Design & Moooi’s Limited Edition Horse Lamp at Auction
Now's your chance to own the Limited Edition Silver Horse Lamp by Front Design. This year, Moooi joined the 3FM Serious Request Dutch annual fundraising event, which benefits orphans and other children affected by HIV/AIDS. Their charitable contribution is a one-of-a-kind donation: a unique Limited Edition Silver Horse Lamp is up for auction on eBay until December 24, 2010. Bid for the larger than life lamp "to make the world a better place!" Like the original Horse Lamp, the shiny Silver Horse Lamp "is faithful to the true dimensions of the animal, bringing a touch of nature in fairytale style and genuine madness." And it really is an endangered species-this Moooi equine is one of only five Silver Horse Lamps in the world.

Fairytale Lighting on eBay
Where will you put your Limited Edition Silver Horse Lamp once you win the prize? The ideas should be as grandiose as the lamp itself. How about putting the Silver Horse Lamp on stage along with the real four-legged creatures in Cavalia? Or, Front Design's gleaming prize could join The Horse at the American Museum of Natural History (technically, the exhibit is over, but maybe Silver Horse Lamp is magical enough to time travel). Alternatively, imagine the Limited Edition Silver Horse Lamp on the set of the next Jean-Pierre Jeunet film (Amelie would surely love its scintillating light). Or the lamp could be a part of some fanciful stage set; perhaps it could live with Peter Parker in Julie Taymor's upcoming Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark musical.
Wherever it ends up, the Limited Edition Silver Horse Lamp will surely please. Not only is the work of Front Design and Moooi whimsical and lovely, but it is also a grand gesture in the fight against HIV/AIDS. It may, in fact, be the perfect emblem for the children and orphans most affected by the disease-since Silver Horse Lamp can return the playfulness of which their lives have been robbed.
