A White Trash Cube: Recycled Seating by Nicolas Le Moigne
Are you seeking out a green our environment New Year’s resolution? As a person who verbally states I have no resolutions – but who secretly picks one or two ways I’d like to improve on a more profound level than counting calories – I was all ears to the latest design named Trash Cube by Nicolas Le Moigne and Eternit.
Trash Cube. Designed by Nicolas Le Moigne for Eternit.
Green Design Defines the Mission of Nicolas Le Moigne and Eternit’s new Trash Cube Stool
Based in Switzerland and known for their popularity in the production of roofing materials and facades, the Eternit company makes strong, durable materials out of cements and fibers. While the end products get whisked away for architectural projects, there is still an awful lot of waste. Designer Nicolas Le Moigne, also from Switzerland, thought about the making recycled stools out the scraps unused from the production phase. Instead of seeing the scraps as trash, he sees each Trash Cube stool as an artistic form with what Abitare calls a “strong, poetic soul that could be part of a collection of Arte Povera artworks”.
Using the armor of exterior siding and roofing materials as the major components of the Trash Cube stool makes it available for indoor or outdoor use. Pleasantly sized at 32 cm x 32 cm x 36 cm, the stool made from Eternit could be the introduction we all need into making healthy New Year’s resolutions that, well, endure the test of time – not to mention the fact that the Trash Cubes are ready for ordering in prime time, early 2011!
