Bamboo Furniture by PIE
Remember the Scream Chair? The woven aluminum strands on a stainless steel frame in the shape of a uvula which come together to create a recycled and recyclable piece with a heck of a lot of character. PIE is a pretty cool group of young design professionals looking to better the world through ecological design, and if you like their MO but don’t necessarily want a screeching chair in your living room, their bamboo collection may be a more subdued option.

Eco-Friendly Bamboo Seating
The Bamboo Stomach, designed by Bannavis Andrew Sribyatta for PIE, is a hand-crafted piece that is inspired by Asian minimalism. The Easy Lounge, The Eye Bench and The Fold are all seating pieces that are part of the bamboo series which mimic the sensual, curvaceous shapes found in PIE’s plant-material collections. The bamboo collection is a more refined group of seating pieces that is polished and smooth, easily working with a wide range of design aesthetics. Each design takes advantage of the material properties of wood, the Easy Lounge and Eye Bench carve thick pieces of wood whereas the Stomach and Fold chairs show off the wood’s ability to be curved and mitered. All the pieces are made from rapidly renewable bamboo and finished with non-toxic finishes and adhesives.
