Plus Table by Paul Goodwin of Goodwin + Goodwin
“At a young age, I knew it was for more enjoyable to design a flow chart than it was reading up on river flow and oxbow lakes” says furniture designer Paul Goodwin. Transforming otherwise indifferent designs into spectacular, functional pieces is no new feat for the graphic/print designer. In fact, during his youth he beat out an overconfident contender in a “Transformer” drawing competition. With his plentiful experience in website and iPhone application design, Goodwin’s debut table, entitled “Plus table” is likely to attract our computer-savvy generation of creative minds.
Plus Table. Designed by Paul Goodwin of Goodwin + Goodwin.
Designed as a minimalist computer table or writing desk, Goodwin + Goodwin builds the table using one solid, anodized piece of aluminum. The high standards of the aluminum construct are machined by a small, detail-oriented engineering company in Suffolk, United Kingdom. Not ironically, it is the same material and finish as the current range of Apple iMac and Mac Book Pro computers.
The flat pack table is a “no nuts and bolts” model, so it doesn’t require a toolbox or intense instruction following to assemble. Simply slide the legs into themselves and carefully position the top onto the cross legs to build it up, and you’re set!
With Goodwin’s knack for developing systems that serve a purpose – currently serving as the Creative Director for an Apple iPhone Development company – the designer’s stylish desk enters the market during an era where our computers play a vital role in our daily lives. Like the Goldilocks’ porridge of computer tables, it’s got enough space to spread out with papers and a coffee mug, but is contained enough to fit into virtually any space. Additionally, the Plus table comes in your choice of five customized colors and measures in at 120cm l x 60cm w x 72cm h.
If you’ve been searching for an alternative setting, before your kitchen table officially becomes your office, the Plus table/desk can create the desired uniform look for your office or home, and of course, your deserving Apple computer.
