The Official Dream of a Creative: The SW_1 Collection
If you can't figure out how to do a live/work space in your place, why not make your work environment as comfortable as possible? Scott Wilson, the former Global Creative Director for Nike who now heads up the MINIMAL design studio, recently worked together with Coalesse to create new lounge-like conference furniture that would fly with those of us who'd rather sport pumas than pumps to work, and make our creative spaces feel more like our own.
The SW_1 Collection. Designed by MINIMAL in collaboration with Coalesse.
The SW_1 Collection was introduced at NeoCon this year, instantly stealing the limelight due to the intelligent reduction of materials on the conference table and chairs, and thus, its attractive lower cost. Along with the furniture itself, they also developed a portable power pod that is camouflaged on top of the table as an organizer, and according to Robert Arko, VP Creative Director for Coalesse, "(the) Power Pod is the first 'well designed' power strip to deserve to be used on top of the table where users can most naturally interact with it."
Between the flexible positions of the chair and sizing of the tables – you can choose between occasional, work, standard conference, and low conference tables – the plentiful combinations cultivate collaboration designed for creative team settings but also allow for individual preference.
Modern features differentiate the SW_1 from other conference room collections. One change is the instant swivel that brings the chair back to a centered position and automatically resets the room. They include personal tablets that can extend out from the table and offer a space for a laptop or other device that is more private than the lack thereof with the flat expanse of a long table. Besides the numerous physical characteristics that make it a more relaxed, comfortable space for our less formal, tech/creative generation, the chair and table flexibility exceed even further expectations by offering the SW_1 Collection in the full Coalesse palette of laminates, wood veneers, glass, and white corian.
For any of us who have sat our once idea generating minds through painfully rigid meetings, we give thanks to Scott Wilson and MINIMAL for knowing exactly how to answer our calls for creative, conference room help.
