Cube your Walls by Dotting Cersaie: A Kalebodur Preview
Trade shows can be as chaotic and consuming as your first trip to an Ikea store. Tile shows – like Cersaie in Bologna coming up this September – dish out so much information on floor and wall applications that I’d definitely recommend taking preemptive measure to assure you’re not swallowed whole. One way to do this is to lend an ear to Tamer Nakisci, an award-winning industrial designer who was named one of Europe’s Top 100 Young Creative Talents in 2009.

In a fantastic new collaboration with Kale, a confident Nakisci has shifted from prototyping an elusive mobile design for Nokia to the inception of two new collections that will be released this fall at Cersaie. Speaking to the basic shapes within a complex digital technology, the new collections of tile and matching cabinetry are titled Cube & Dot.

By adding the glam factor of an illustrous design of the Cube collection to your bathroom, the optical illusion of a glued paper square on the roll just got beat out by the shimmering, three-dimensional walls. With a slight contrast in shading and the option to customize your tiles with random, colorful diamonds within the cubes where you wish, even neutral colors take on a new life.
For a bubbled over effect without the aftermath of mopping, the Dot collection’s intrepid metallic rings contained within three-dimensional circles that pop bring a playful effect. Your customized design lets you add decoration to the tile instead of putting artwork on top of it, and the sleek appearance will not dull with age.
