Crystal by Scavolini
One of the new designs from Italian kitchen company Scavolini is Crystal, which offers “resplendent beauty at every time of day.” After working exclusively in kitchen design for over 40 years, Scavolini has mastered good, efficient kitchen cabinetry. Featuring aluminum and tempered glass doors, Crystal provides “a classy backdrop for the individual lifestyle, and an outstanding context for fine food and entertaining.”

The major attraction of Crystal is its shine: the pieces come with “gleaming doors,” which are available in a wide range of bold colors like tangerine and eggplant. These glistening portals grace lots of different layouts–from breakfast bars and cupboards to storage units and appliances.
Besides the scintillating polish of Crystal, the kitchen model has other interesting possibilities. Scavolini commissioned Karim Rashid to design some one-of-a-kind Textures for Crystal (texture being another name for pattern). His graffiti-inspired decoration is “a way of giving depth and dynamism to the objects that animate our space, that create favourable conditions, that drive the eye to go beyond the surface.” The digital graphics, coupled with the luster of the Crystal doors, lends the kitchen cabinetry a sense of motion, a kinetic dynamism that’s equal parts Italian Futurism and New York subway. Rashid explains it this way: “I embellished the glass surfaces to transform two-dimensional kitchens into spaces endowed with more complex dimensions.”
