What’s So Wonderful About Hego’s I.WO Showerhead?
Here’s the “2” to this week’s Monday-Tuesday 1-2 punch of intriguing new showerheads: Hego’s “I.WO.” A fitting inversion of yesterday’s “Drop” (which privileged whimsy and experimentation with new materials over out and out luxuriance), I.WO is an acronym for “In Wonderland,” which locale is precisely where you’ll find yourself once positioned under the dual waterfall/rain nozzle that juts in an elegant rounded triangle from the shower’s walls.

The shelf style–contrary to traditional ceiling-mounted rain showerheads, I.WO is affixed to the wall–is only one of I.WO’s distinguishing aspects: others include a high-polished stainless steel finish, hidden “wheels” to control water pressure and temperature, and easy selection between waterfall or rain modes.
This last bit is especially tempting for me, since I’m a bit conflicted about the trend towards the aforementioned ceiling-mounted fixtures. On the one hand, I quite enjoy the high volume dispensation, which effectively mimics bathing beneath a natural falls; on the other, I always find myself a bit intimidated by the formidable fixture overhead–call this irrational (it is), but the on-high positioning and encircling wall of water somehow put me in mind of a medical procedure. I.WO’s increased options obviously obviate this effect. And the shelf configuration is just plain smart design–the height and position of the flat surface make it ideal for getting soap, shampoo, and shaving accessories out of the way. Further, the shelf is above the water, a feature that virtually eliminates the unsightly hassle of mildew rings that often from around the bases of said bottles of shampoo, etc. And the profile of I.WO is almost too thin to be believed, which, in the age of the iPod and iPad, gives the showerhead a true millennial vibe–just right for those in lockstep with a contemporary aesthetic.
