Duravit Launches Vero Black

Friday, May 14th, 2010, Duravit will launch its Vero Black Collection at their NYC showroom from 6-9 pm at 105 Madison Avenue. “An archetype of purist form,” Vero–one of Duravit’s most popular bathroom lines of all time–is getting a modern twist with the addition of a bold, high-gloss black: “With the introduction of Vero Black comes a revamp of the bathroom as we know it–and another chapter in Duravit's color history.” The signature piece of the Vero name is its rectangular washbasin.

Besides the classic 60 centimeters wide, the washbasin is now available in new sizes–50, 80, and “an imposing 100 cm.” Place it on the matching chrome console on two feet, whose railing doubles as a towel rack, and create a sleek combination of lines (and the console is height adjustable, a plus for the short and tall alike). The Vero Washbasin comes with one or two pre-punched tap holes that give you the opportunity to intensify the straight lines of the bathroom collection by using an angular faucet or to contrast the rigid geometry by using a curved fixture.

In the new black, Vero “represents exclusivity and sophistication.” It also allows designers to play with antipoles: obviously, black sets off white perfectly, a classic combination that lends the bathroom high cinematic flair. This black-and-white scheme works particularly well with Vero’s “classically angular basic form.” The end result of marrying Vero Black pieces with sparkling white walls or floors is “purism with a touch of nostalgia, augmenting the scope of unique and creative bathroom design.” Duravit sees today’s baths and kitchens as experiencing a color revolution–after decades of preferential treatment for pure, unadulterated white. By offering Vero Black, Duravit seeks to encourage “dramatic ensembles with high contrast and radiant highlights.”
