Floor lamps take up precious floor space. If you disagree, you live in a luxurious abode. City living inevitably leads to confined spaces for all but a very wealthy few.  Beyond the significantly smaller spaces urbanites inabit is the lack basements and attics. Every square foot counts and floor lamps take up a minimum of two (think of the diameter of your shade – or the reach of the “arm”). But beyond space saving, Gecko‘s floor Lamp is simply cool.

Gecko’s floor lamp was developed specially for 2009 Casa Cor, and is now available for sale in black. Both easy to put together and fully functional, it’s perfect for residential and commercial spaces. Here’s how it works: apply the decal to the wall, beginning at the botton and ensuring that it’s perfectly aligned (ie. straight). Then, screw the half-dome to the wall (at the top of the decal). Screw the electric kit base to the wall and fix the socket and wire. Finally, attach the lamp and turn it on. From comtemporary to traditional, Gecko’s acrylic base lamps are available in 3 different designs: Minima, Rococo and Bulb, and you can choose from 15 special colors, that when lighted become even more intense.

Gecko is a Brazilian company that manufactures wall decals, with designs created by Gecko’s team as well as guest artists. Their “product” series includes fully functioning lamps, side tables, wall clocks and candlesticks. Before the floor lamp came the acrylic base lamps and wall lamp. The wall lamp functions exactly like the floor lamp, though Gecko recommends the application on the base line of side tables, shelves or even close to the floor. The acrylic base lamp is free-standing. The clear acrylic base works as an invisible surface to apply the sticker, available in 3 different designs: Minima, Rococo and Bulb and 15 special colors, creating a sense of illusion when the light turns on. The sticker hides the lamp socket behind the base. Despite the freestanding nature of the acrylic base lamp, it should be placed near a wall for softer light. All of Gecko’s lamps come as a kit of parts, fit for a 25W/110v bulb.
