Live at #NeoConEast: As Clever as the Ibex: the Immix from Versteel
The Immix Modular Bench System combines many different possibilities in contract seating, which is why its manufacturer gave it this clever name. Versteel explains in the form of dictionary definitions: “Immix: verb to mix in; blend; mingle; noun a modular bench from Versteel.” This new system lets you put together straight and curved sections “for unlimited configurations and spans.” You can also mix and match the shapes of top seats, as well as their upholstery and edges.

Benches are available with or without backs in 100s of upholstery choices. Get Immix in chrome or in one of 33 standard powder coat finishes. The word Immix reminds me of the word ibex (a species of wild mountain goat)-an association that can make sense, since the layout of the Immix Modular Bench System can be as long and winding as any ibex’s path.
Designed by David R. Gutgsell, Immix fits lots of spaces with panache. Choose the backless benches if you’ve got a waiting room with low banks of windows (or if you’re lucky enough to have a view so good it’s worth not blocking). Too much blank vertical wall? Then opt for the benches with backs—play with alternating upholstery colors to spice up the space. If you’re outfitting a banking office, get the Immix in a conservative color palette with matching powder coated frame—taupe, for instance. For a bolder vocation, choose to wind the benches this way and that and upholster them in red. Immix is a great solution for oddly shaped rooms; you can work around your unusual angles and unify the space. Nestle tables between bench seats for resting your latte or blueprint; add electrical outlets for plugging in your gadgets—you can do what you need and what you desire with this one seating system.
