Schönbuch’s Collect: Color Coded Storage Compositions
Collect chest of drawers by WIS design for Schönbuch can help even the most amateur organizers introduce tidiness into their lives. Color coded for clarity, drawers of various dimensions provide appropriately sized homes for your belongings. Collect is in keeping with the theme of compartmentalization, introduced in last week’s article on Krumnikl Environment’s Library, a book and a magazine shelf in coffee-table form. “The Collect chest of drawers has either 15 or 18 drawers in a distinguished patchwork look,” according to the manufacturer.
Collect. Designed by WIS design for Schönbuch.
It is available in two configurations: a tall chest of drawers (77cm x 126cm x 36cm) and a horizontally oriented chest of drawers (114cm x 100cm x 38cm). The patchwork pattern is created by the variety of finishes on the drawer fronts, inset within the frame and finished in cool white paint. Different matte-finished woods (including bleached oak, walnut, wenge, natural beachwood and maple) or alternatively a selection of matte-colored paint finishes (including sand, ivory, cream and aqua) are available for the drawer fronts. For the wood-version, handles are a combination of porcelain china and wood while the knobs for the painted version are white powder-coated metal.
Collect was introduced at IMM Cologne 2009 and is a variation of their 2007 design Decades. Both configurations are available in a patchwork of wood finishes and in three versions with matte-painted drawer fronts. The gridded, cool white frame juxtaposed against the smooth matte finish of the drawer fronts and the tiny white knobs creates a chest of drawers easily likened to an abstract painting.
