At #NeoCon09: Say Goodbye to Ugly Cordage with Riviera’s Ambit

A natural evolution from his Executive Series, designer Pascal Salvador’s Ambit for Riviera is systems furniture that embraces the wide horizon and the uncluttered space. The clean, linear aesthetic is inspired by an objective to leave no cord un-hidden: every credenza in the Ambit line allows turning-in of all power and data. This is accomplished via a single or double-wide interior chassis that runs cords through the furniture instead of atop it.

The business ends of cords are accessed through inconspicuous surface-side reveals that enable seamless transitions to the appliance. Ambit also incorporates a handsome standing lamp attached to the desk via a paper-thin central cylindrical tube—no unsightly dangling cord in view. The system also boasts some nifty cabinetry with a similar hide-away functionality: sliding doors move laterally at the touch of a finger to reveal a pair of spacious drawers. The slim, sleek, and fresh tones of Ambit (shown at #NeoCon09 in a light and bright combo of “tech-grain” maple and Kiwi laminate) create the elegant and appealing illusion of a cordless world. Would we were so lucky.
