At #NeoCon09: Itoki’s Cool and Comfortable SP Chair
Lean back in Itoki’s SP chair and let it readjust itself to fit your shape and weight, no manual action required. The “Passive Seat Slide” mechanism automatically triggers the “Active Lumbar Support” which moves forward to support and cushion your back and hips. The translucent backrest molds around your body to provide side support. Made of Elastomer, the backrest looks and feels a lot like rubber, with vertical ribs to enable airflow, thereby keeping your back cool. It feels even better than it looks.
SP Chair. Manufactured by Itoki Design.
Introduced to the Japanese market a year ago, the SP chair was recently debuted in the US and is already achieving success: Itoki SP is Best of #NeoCon09 Winner for Seating: Ergonomic Desk/Task Innovation. Although most of Itoki’s US products are locally developed and thus differ from those available in Japan, the SP chair is in the minority and is available in both markets. Beyond its obvious attractions, the chair is 96% recyclable and hidden components including the underside of the seat are made from recycled plastic. Given the exhaustion I’ll be experiencing over the next few days, you may find me back in Itoki’s booth testing its long-term comfort.
