Green Cuisine Kitchen by Philips
Evolutionary, minimalistic, high-tech and eco-efficient - the new wave of kitchen concepts does not believe in just serving the obvious epicurean interests. Whether it's the Spherical Kitchen or the Philips Green Cuisine Kitchen, all seem to blur the line between reality and fantasy and indefatigably provoke the two basic fundamental senses; sight and smell. Green Cuisine Kitchen. Manufactured by Philips.
The Green Cuisine Kitchen was first unveiled at the Philips Simplicity Event 2008 in Moscow and with it, Philips has unleashed the anti-thesis of the traditional kitchen. In fact it looks straight out of a science fiction flick and I can actually envision the Cylons (Battlestar Galactica anyone?) having it around just to flaunt to those tortured humans. However, according to Philips the cutting-edge design is reminiscent of a Japanese teppanyaki steakhouse, which brings the philosophy of serving and sharing to the vanguard.
The "Interactive Kitchen Table" with its "Dynamic Table Top Interface" is where all the action takes place, since it moonlights as both a dinner table and a cooking top. There are no preset cooking zones as the in-built sensors together with the graphic interface of concentric rings and scroll-bars account for a multi-sensory experience. The table can further be fit into the Modernist/Futuristic grid courtesy of the bi-color glow that surrounds and follows each appliance as it travels.
This avant-garde kitchen also comes equipped with a Bokashi Composter that recycles leftovers and converts the waste into soil tablets that can later be be placed in the Garden. Also since the Composter is vacuum-sealed, one won't be subjected to vile and offensive odors. However the goodness doesn't stop here… the water tap both filters and mineralizes water, and the table reuses the heat energy it generates to run the display.
Many may dismiss the Green Cuisine Kitchen as just another futuristic concept. However the cognoscenti won't miss the subtle design elements that exude an understated luxury and also assuage the monotonous. Speaking purely from a design point of view, the aesthetics of the kitchen serve as an appropriate tonic for our frenetic urban existence where a sit-down dinner with loved ones is nothing short of a luxury.
