A Little ‘Top’ography Underfoot
I’ve seen plenty of textured rugs and carpets, but none take three-dimensionality as far as Top Floor. What I find most surprising about the designs is I’m left wondering why other rug manufacturers haven’t followed suit.
Esquire. Designed by Esti Barnes. Manufactured by Top Floor Rugs.
Take a look at Esquire, the rug shown above. It looks like a topographical map of a mountain range. Incredible to look at, and no doubt marvelously soft underfoot. It’s no wonder it was named “Best Of Year” in 2007 by Interior Design magazine.
ESQUIRE, with its angular detailing, perfectly captures Esti’s signature sculpted style and has already had an enthusiastic reception from the press and design communities world-wide since its launch in late 2006.
Who is behind these beautiful creations? Esti Barnes, rug maker extraordinaire. Top Floor, her company, has been known for its hand tufted, unique wool rug designs since 1998. Instead of floor covering being an after thought, Esti’s unique creations warrant attention all their own and are considered works of art by many designers.
Don’t let the sizes and colors shown fool you. Top Floor views their products as bespoke meaning you can have virtually any design in any color and size you can dream up.
I’d love to call Esti’s creations a well kept secret, but she’s already garnered the attention of most of today’s top shelter magazines. Elle Decor, Living, House & Garden, Esquire… the list goes on. But don’t let that stop you from feeling like you’ve just stumbled onto the next best thing to come out of the UK.
