Rest Easy
About a year ago, my husband and I were walking (okay, drooling) through our favorite local Scandinavian furniture store. Our primary quest was a desk, but if you’ve ever been in a fantastic showroom, you know how likely you are to find temptation lurking around every well-designed corner.
Morphogenesis Chaise. Designed by Timothy Schreiber.
In our case, we lost our will power when we ventured to the lower floor. There in the subterranean space we saw a pair of modern lounge chairs calling our name. Covered in soft, tufted Italian leather, we knew we were in trouble. Giving each other a sidelong glance we quickly found our way onto one of the lounges – only to realize we never wanted to get back up. Imagine finding your knees bent at the perfect pitch, your feet elevated just so, your lumbar cradled by invisible support and your head cradled by a soft leather cushion. There was no going back (not to mention no hope of finding a desk that day).
Valencia II Leather Chaise Lounge. Available in a variety of colors and dimensions.
Knowing these oversize chairs would dominate any room in our condo, we were forced to let them stay in the showroom. But I’d be kidding myself if I told you we don’t wax poetic about them at least once a month. (Funny how great design stays with you.) So when I stumbled across Timothy Schreiber’s Morphogenesis Chaise this morning, I couldn’t help but be impressed. While the style isn’t quite to my liking, it’s clear that Timothy has a great appreciation for blending comfort and style. The ergonomic design is worthy of any Herman Miller fan’s attention. And unlike our oversize tufted wonders, the Morphogenisis Chaise could clearly fit in nearly any room – large or small.
So as we plot our acquisition of the chaise lounges we dream of, we’ll keep our eyes out for new innovation like this from Timothy. Who knows, maybe he’ll come up with an Italian leather version just for us. One can dream…
