A ceremony celebrating the first phase of construction for Salt Lake Community College’s new Instructional and Administration Building was held on Tuesday, August 7 at the project site. Salt Lake Community College officials, AJC architects and Oakland Construction project managers and workers were all on hand for the placing of the building’s first steel beam.
Once complete, the 136,000 square foot facility will contain about 75,000 feet of classroom and student spaces—including more than 40,000 square feet for 40 ‘smart’ classrooms. The building will also feature a writing center, an integrated leaning area with anthropology and history exhibits, an interactive science resource center, and a dance lab. The renovation is set to open fall 2013.
