The IIDA has joined the National School Supply and Equipment Association as a strategic partner for the 2012 School Equipment Show along with nine key organizations committed to the professional development and continuing education of professionals who design, build and maintain learning environments. As part of their partnership, IIDA will sponsor one of the design-focused educational sessions: “Planning Schools for the Innovation Generation,” presented by Steve Turckes, AIA, REFP, LEED®AP from Perkins + Will.
IIDA joins two other new participating organizations: the American Association of School Administrators, the professional organization for more than 13,000 educational leaders, and the Community College Business Officers, representing business officers representing community colleges and community college system offices in the US and in Canada.
The American Institute of Architects Committee on Education will be presenting two sessions: “21st Century Schools: A Design Conversation” with panelists Steve Shiver, AIA. Panelists: Butch Reifert, FAIA; Caroline Lobo, PhD, AIA; Peter Lippman, REFP; Paul Hutton, AIA, and “Innovative Learning Environments: Design Awards Meets Research Evidence” presented by the AIA-CAE Scholar Kelly Martinez.
Infocomm International will be bringing their popular seminar program “The Power of A/V in Education” to this year’s event with a two-part workshop program featuring “Technology in Future Learning Environments” by Andrew Milne, Ph. D., CEO Tidebreak and “Technology Manager Case Studies” by Marko Jarymovych, IT Technical Director—Public Technology, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and Dr. James Frazee, Director, Instructional Technology Services, San Diego State University.
Returning this year to support the educational facilities marketplace are the Council of Educational Facility Planners International, USGBC’s Center for Green Schools, the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association, the American Architectural Foundation, and the National Clearinghouse for Educational Facilities.
