Durkan Wins HA+D Green Plus Award

Members of the hospitality community have once again recognized Durkan’s commitment to manufacturing top-performing sustainable products. Lavish Luxury, a Merit Select offering, claimed the flooring category 2011 HA+D Green Plus Award. The honor, which is peer and customer voted, was announced this week at a ceremony in Hong Kong.

Lavish Luxury is the first hospitality flooring collection to utilize a bio-based fiber system— Durkan’s  SmartStrand® Contract with DuPont™ Sorona®. By replacing petro-base chemicals with rapidly renewable crops, it takes less energy to manufacture SmartStrand Contract compared to other carpet fibers. Made with 37 percent DuPont Sorona renewably sourced polymer, SmartStrand Contract is one-of-a-kind with advantages no other fiber can offer. Exceptional durability, permanent colorfastness, and superior stain resistance built into the fiber are just a few of the key benefits.
