Multifunctional Chair for Modern Life: Wilmer by Stefan Borselius for Blå Station

Designed by Stefan Borselius, Wilmer T and Wilmer S are easy lounge chairs with a form and purpose for today’s lifestyle. Swedish furniture company Blå Station is the perfect representative for this spacious, curvy number since they believe that new pieces must “demonstrate a new attitude towards shape, function, and material.” They think new furniture must provide something that was previously missing. In the case of Wilmer, the new elements are its form and functionality: “The differences between past, present and future, work and play, here and there, have been erased, and multitasking is the order of the day–especially for the younger generation.”

Soft Lines and High Functionality

Wilmer S is a well-balanced, asymmetrical lounge chair. Sculptural and sinuous, Wilmer S features the sweeping arcs of the letter for which it’s named. Wilmer T comes with two well-placed occasional tables ideal for working and relaxing. The small round surfaces hover at two different heights—one that’s perfect for laptops and books, another that’s suited for milk and cookies (or wine and cheese). Either incarnation of Wilmer is wonderful, winsome, and whimsical.

Built with a green chrome or black lacquered steel frame and molded polyurethane foam, Wilmer S and Wilmer T can be upholstered in fabric or leather. Thanks to the chair’s designer, Stefan Borselius, who is “an ingenious designer with a head bursting with ideas,” Wilmer answers the way we work and play today.

About the Manufacturer: Blå Station is a Swedish furniture company with a portfolio as interesting as its name. Station came from the echoing warehouse where the company began, which inspired impromptu concerts and felt like a station where “there’s always something going on—a constant flow of change”. Blå includes the letters of the founder’s name, Börge Lindau, and that of the company’s location of Ånus on the Swedish southeast coast. A family-owned business established in 1986, Blå Station offers furniture “to meet the demands and desires of today.” Because they produce everything in Sweden, they are able to follow their seven sustainability criteria.
