Milan 2014: Iridescent Glass

Providing a subtle sheen to furniture and lighting designs at this year’s Milan furniture fair, iridescent glass emerged as a major trend.

Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola has created this iridescent coated glass table for Glas Italia. Called Shimmer, the four geometric panels of glass that make up the design create spectacular layers of prismatic color.

Eindhoven-based Studio WM showcased Lucent – a integrated mirror, lamp and shelving design. Made from iridescent dichroic glass, the circular mirror slides across the shelf, becoming transparent when illuminated.
