Developed by Ayako Takase and Cutter Hutton of Rhode Island-based Observatory Studio, Doko takes its name from the Japanese word for "where". The line, which comes in four sizes and an array of bright and neutral colors, is designed to work just about anywhere from workplace to public space to residential.

And perhaps Doko's most exciting feature is its deliberate nod to wellbeing. The products are available with a rounded base to provide an active seating platform for users.

"Joy and wellness are not personal interests, they are a way of life," says Jackie Maze, vice president of marketing and sales for Keilhauer. Doko's optional active seating feature challenges users to activate muscles in their backs and stomachs to stabilize themselves, which can lead to improved posture, core strength, and circulation.
