Wolf-Gordon

has teamed up with Tjep. to create an exclusive collection of interior surfacing materials all of which draw inspiration from the cube. Presented in April at the 2015 Salone del Mobile, Tjep. Cubism includes wallcoverings, an upholstery textile, and a sheer drapery textile. The geometric inspiration is "a playful reference to the early 20th century cultural phenomenon, Czech Cubism."

Wallcoverings and Textiles Inspired by Czech Cubism

Basis, the sole upholstery textile in Tjep. Cubism, is "the fundamental point of departure for the collection, repeated in a mosaic of colors and weave textures." The fabric comes in 12 colorways including a bold mustard and an elegant blue. The pattern's depth and subtle variations depict the 3-D cube while also presenting 2-D diamonds. Fragmentation, a sheer drapery, offers depth and dynamism: "Fragmentation moves from a regular column of cubes to a scattered, light-filled array of the cube's planar components."

The collection's four wallcoverings include structural Metamorphosis, large-scale Osmosis, linear Connections, and damask Baroque. Metamorphosis is a textile wallcovering; Baroque is a digital print wallcovering; and Osmosis and Connections are vinyl wallcoverings. Baroque juxtaposes a traditional pattern with a millennial technique, and this contrast works to pay homage to well-known decorative motifs while moving the pattern in a future-forward direction.
