PH 5 Mini By Louis Poulsen

Having just passed by a hospital lobby with a startling line of Artichoke Lamps, I remembered designer Poul Henningsen and thought to write about another of his classic designs—the PH 5 lamp by Louis Poulsen, now available in a mini version.

PH 5 Mini reinterprets and resizes the iconic layered lamp, which was originally designed in 1926 after Henningsen completed “a meticulous analysis of the reflective qualities of light.”

The tiered suspension lamp is a classic of Danish design, providing glare-free illumination in a dynamic shape. At a diameter of 30 centimeters (roughly 12 inches), PH 5 Mini brings big style to small spaces, making it a wonderful addition to bedrooms and baths, as well as nurseries and kitchens.

It’s also a little wonder fitting for boutique hotels and other contract venues with compact areas—a colorful gem to hang above any niche. Besides classic white, PH Mini offers six additional color combinations: Hues of Orange, Hues of Rose, Hues of Red, Hues of Green, Hues of Blue and Hues of Grey.

Like an extraterrestrial flower from some faraway planet, PH 5 Mini just landed in stores as of October 2017.
