New Fukasawa And Morrison Launches for Maruni

Japanese manufacturer Maruni has grown leaps and bounds in recent years. Already well-established in Japan as a high quality wooden furniture manufacturer, the world began to take notice of the Hiroshima based company with Naoto Fukasawa's 'Hiroshima' chair. Soon after, Fukasawa's close friend and co-founder of the 'Supernormal' movement, Jasper Morrison, became a creative contributor to Maruni. Together, the two have designed a collection that has become one of the contract market's most sought after, landing prestigious projects such as the Qantas Lounge Changi Airport in Singapore with Fukasawa’s ‘Roundish’ chair.

Salone di Milano 2016 sees Maruni expanding upon Fukasawa's enormously successful Hiroshima chair with a bar stool and stackable armchair, as well as two new products from Morrison with the 'T' chair and 'O' stool.

The new series from Jasper Morrison is especially interesting. Both products are made with lacquered maple and available in three heights, accented with a painted steel support in black, green or red. This added feature lends a touch of whimsy to Morrison's functionally straightforward design.

Naoto Fukasawa's expansion on the Hiroshima series fills a much needed gap in the collection. With more and more hospitality venues using the Hiroshima chair, a barstool was the natural progression of the series. As well, with the increasing need for flexibility in room configurations and space management, the Hiroshima Armchair Stackable will surely elevate the successful series, landing into a wider scope of projects.
