&Tradition Reintroduces Arne Jacobsen’s First Ever Lamp Design

Originally designed by Danish modernism pioneer Arne Jacobsen, the Bellevue lamp has been reintroduced by Danish brand &Tradition.

Designed in 1929, the Bellevue marked Jacobsen’s first foray into lighting, and combines Danish Modernism’s clean lines with a hint of Bauhaus’ industrialism. Now in production with &tradition according to Jacobsen’s original specifications, the versatile design is available as a floor, desk and wall lamp.

The lamps sport a tubular 45-degree cut shade, fashioned from a single sheet of metal, with flexible neck to allow for more specific task lighting.

The re-launch offers a fresh contemporary color and material palette, with the option of satin polished brass, black with brass, anthracite with brass, or a combination of ivory or grey beige with brass.

“Jacobsen's Bellevue lamp reflects the true tenants of form following function,” explains brand manager Martin Kornbek Hansen. “It captures the essence of elegance, with nothing to add and nothing to take away.”
