Danish Design Breaks into NYC Hospitality

Danish design team Space Copenhagen is no stranger to the hospitality design world, having designed spaces in Denmark such as the ‘best restaurant in the world’, NOMA, along with Geist, Kul, Lagkagehuset, and Fiskebarren. Space Copenhagen worked together with Fredericia Furniture on the wildly successful Spine collection series for Geist, the barstool of which has become one of the most sought after in the world.

Now having turned their sights on America, for two NYC hotels, they have expanded the Spine series with Spine Lounge Petit. This smaller, and more compact version of the popular Spine Lounge chair debuted at the Stockholm Furniture Fair 2016 to enormous success.

Also launched at SFF 2016 was the Spine Daybed, a luxury piece that fits perfectly into a library lounge bar or entryway.

Finally, also debuted at SFF16 was a sumptuous easy chair with sensuous curves to round out the Space Copenhagen for Fredericia launches for this year’s fair. Swoon, with its sweeping elegant lines, deep backrest, and solid wood legs, was a natural choice for both hotels. We predict the unassumingly high backed shape and generous armrests will be in big demand for hospitality projects throughout the world.
