Multitaskers: Lighting Trend

These forward-thinking desk and bedside lamps double as handy power outlets for handheld devices.

The D’E-light by Philippe Starck for Flos comes with LED ‘flat panel’ light, serving as a charging dock as well as a tabletop lamp and comes with different charging pins for Apple devices.

The Limber LED Task Lamp by Poppin features a USB port that allows you to charge your phone, with the option of plugging into a computer for power.

Italian design duo Zanocchi & Starke have designed Ludovica, a light that also serves as a bookend. The LED light is detachable with four hours of battery life and is charged using a USB port.

Kinx by FontanaArte offers a looped dimmable LED light, with a built in USB port for charging electronic devices. Designed by Karim Rashid, the lamp also features a circular base that can be used for holding small objects.

The w152 lamp by Industrial Facility for Wästberg comprises three USB ports, with technology recognizing the power requirements of a device for optimum recharging. The lighting element is also interchangeable, with the option of a spherical ambient light or rectangular directed light.
