Atelier Van Lieshout’s Statistocrat lamp for Moooi Has Multiple Shades

Designed by Rotterdam-based design studio Atelier Van Lieshout for Dutch brand Moooi, the Statistocrat lamp was conceived as a 3D representation of drawings, schedules and statistics for a utopian city.

Atelier Van Lieshout’s  Statistocrat lamp for Dutch brand Moooi features four shades

The lamp consists of four shades staggered across a 2 meter-long vertical bar, each with a different purpose. The tallest shade projects light towards the ceiling, the wider shade acts as a reading lamp, while the lowest shade functions as a side table lit by a smaller shade directly above.

Launched earlier this year, the Stratistocrat lamp is made from powder coated aluminum and is available in 25 different colors with hand dimmers for each shade.

About the designer: Rotterdam-based design studio Atelier Van Lieshout was founded in 1995 by Joep van Lieshout (1963, Ravenstein). After graduating from Rotterdam Academy of the Arts, Joep worked on projects that straddled the worlds of easy-clean designs and the non-functional area of art. In the last two decades, Atelier Van Lieshout has designed pieces that combine art, design and architecture, looking closely and themes of motives and obsessions.
