Sound Proof Styling: Contract TrendMay 19, 2015
Following its debut at the Stockholm Furniture Fair last year, acoustic panelling brand Baux returned to the Scandinavian fair this year with a new collection. Working once again with Stockholm-based Studio Form Us With Love the new tiles, made from a mix of wood, water and cement, create large-scale, nature-inspired patterns across the walls. Manufactured in the deep forest of Småland in Sweden with zero waste, the panels provide natural insulation, and have moisture-regulating and sound-dampening properties.
At this year's Salone del Mobile in Milan, office furniture brand Arper showcased a collection of acoustic wall panels in sharp geometric shapes and poppy colors. Designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, the new Parentesit panels are designed to reduce extraneous background noise and create spaces for quiet concentration.
Designed for Scandinavian textile manufacturer Gudbrandsdalen Uldvarefabrikk (GU), StokkeAustad's 'Patch' panels piece together geometric cuts of fabric, mirror, polished brass and Norwegian stone.
Made of 100% post-consumer paper, Dear Human's 'Wallpapering' acoustic tiles are as hard as board, light as cork, and can be printed or painted like paper.
Featuring intricate patterns CNC cut into two layers of acoustic felt, Buzzi Space's 'BuzziFalls' act as room dividers as well as an art pieces.
