Milan 2014: Plant Preoccupation

Last month’s Milan furniture Fair was full of plant-focused products that introduced new ways of bringing greenery into the interior.

The Phytophiler project by Dossofiorito was a series of terracotta plant pots with added functionalities such as magnifying glasses and mirrors built-in. The idea being that these additional tools would enhance the plant's beauty and heighten the plant lovers enjoyment of them.

Designer Tsukasa Goto introduced the Fra-pergola – a metal grid framework for growing strawberries. The clean and tidy framework acts a bit like straw, keeping the growing fruit off the ground and protecting it from insects and dirt.

Luxury brand Hermes debuted a new foliage print silk fabric called Jardin d’osier by Pierre Marie.

German designers Zascho Petkow and Birgit Severin presented a rubber vase design called Ashes for Atelier Haußmann. Hanging within metal frameworks, the rubber vessels were made using a combination of 3D printing and rotation casting.

Plant stand by Jason Rens and John Tebbs

At Wallpaper’s Handmade exhibition American designer Jason Rens and British gardener John Tebbs teamed up to design a plant stand with a marble base and adjustable mirrored shelves.
