Milan 2014: Casamania 2014 Collection

Celebrating its 30th anniversary at this year’s Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italian brand Casamania presented twelve new products including tables, chairs, armchairs, a bookcase, sofas and lighting.

Every item in Casamania’s 2014 Collection expresses each designer’s style and represents Casamania’s design philosophy.

Shown above, La Dina is a solid ash wood chair designed by Luca Nichetto. Conceived as contemporary reinterpretation of a classic Tyrolean chair, La Dina has a sturdy construction with smooth, rounded lines and comes in natural ash,white, pink, black, grey, green and fluo red color ways.

COLOR FALL_Garth Roberts_CASAMANIA_2014_1

Designed by Garth Roberts, Color Fall is an ash veneer wall shelf and bookcase that feature a stripy, multicolor digital print. The series is composed of a framed wall and a full standing floor unit.

LUMEN_Luca Papini_CASAMANIA_2014

The decorative surfaces of Luca Papini’s Lumen coffee tables are embedded with aluminates that make them glow in the dark. The aluminates retain the sunlight or artificial light that shines on them and then, when in darkness, emit a gentle glow.

The  simple linear shape of the Dot table by Lera Moiseeva is realized in solid ash. Easily moved around by it’s large wheel, the Dot table can be used anywhere from the office to the bedroom.

LEGATO_Claesson Koivisto Rune_CASAMANIA_2014

Legato is a cabinet system designed by Swedish design studio Claesson Koivisto Rune. The series of wood cabinets, inspired by artist Ellsworth Kelly's works, is distinguished by its bold squircle-shaped doors. When arranged into compositions, they create different eye-catching color combinations, ideal for an open and multifunctional space.

N_N05 BRIDGES FOR ISLANDS_Nichetto Nendo_CASAMANIA_2014_3

N=N05 is an upholstered seating system designed by Luca Nichetto in collaboration Nendo. The designers imagined the sofa as an archipelago: the modular backrest and seat are arranged on a thin metal structure, which lends the sofa a floating sensation, inspired by the water of the Venetian lagoon. The N=N05 modular design makes it ideal for residential use and commercial use.

NETWORK_Neuland Paster&Geldmacher_CASAMANIA_2014

The slender and modular Network bookcase is the work of Munich based design duo Neuland Paster & Geldmacher. The lightweight design features floating leather panels which can be easily repositioned to change the bookcase’s configuration at any given time.

RADAR_Claesson Koivisto Rune_CASAMANIA_2014

The Radar armchairs by Claesson Koivisto Rune come in four different versions, defined by the shape and height of the back rest. Gently curved, each back rest creates an enveloping cocoon that provides privacy and comfort.

RAPHIA rocking_LucidiPevere_CASAMANIA_2014_1

Raphia Rocking is an extension of Lucidi Pevere’s Raphia project for Casamania and was originally designed in 2013. The collection is characterized by its combination of artisanal craft and industrial production, natural materials and metal. The rocking version incorporates a painted metal frame available in white, bordeaux and black and a sleek rush seat.

TWEE T._Jake Phipps_CASAMANIA_2014_3

Inspired by the tradition of keeping caged canaries in the home, the Tweetie lamps by Jake Phipps feature birds made from hand-painted black or 24 carat gold-plated ceramic, and a frame made from black-painted or gold-plated metal rods. An LED lighting fixture is mounted in the base of the cage, covered by a double layer of polycarbonate.

WORN_Samuel Wilkinson_CASAMANIA_2014_2

Designed by Samuel Wilkinson the Worn collection includes an armchair, and a two and three person sofa. Distinctive untreated leather patches cover the arms of the frame that, with daily use, will develop a natural patina. The back rest wraps around the seat and is cushioned by two goose feather backrest pillows.

The solid ash table top of Pini Leibovich’s Backstage table is supported by three elements that form four legs – two of them combined into a single piece.
