Designed in 1986 by Paolo Rizzatto, Luceplan's Costanza was the first lamp to use a self-supporting polycarbonate shade and a sensory touch dimmer. It has now been produced in over one million units.

Originally launched in a choice of seven colors with a structure in brushed aluminum or black coated aluminum, all variations (table, floor, wall, suspension height-adjustable, bedside) of the Costanza and its smaller cousin, the Costanzina, are now available in two new color families - Radieuse and Mezzo Tono - developed by Paolo Rizzatto and Studiopepe and each made up of five hues.

Radieuse is a family of vibrant shades that offer a slight tonal variation on the original hues: red, black, blue, orange and ivory become Primary Red, Liquorice Black, Petroleum Blue, Smart Yellow, Concrete Grey, respectively, while the white remains white.

The Mezzo Tono family is a painterly range of warm pastel shades that evoke the misty landscapes and soft skins of Italian artist Giorgio Morandi’s work. The family comprises Comfort Green, Edgy Pink, Mistic White, Soft Skin and Shaded Stone.
