Crafted from luxury hardwoods and featuring exquisite detailing and secret compartments, the drinks cabinet makes a comeback as designers seek to capture the glamour of the private gentleman’s club. 

A collaboration between modernist tableware manufacturers Teroforma and furniture brand, Urbancase, the Sidebar Project comprises a walnut or white Corian drinks cabinet and range of barware inspired by mid-century cocktail culture.

Meaning ‘family’ in Hawaiian, the Ohana bar by Brooklyn-based brand Uhuru was inspired by a summer spent surfing and mountain biking in the volcanoes and beaches of the Hawaiian Islands. Made from dark, rich reclaimed woods and natural blackened steel, the Ohana bar incorporates a wine rack below, center area with wine glass hanging racks and room for liquor bottles and top drawer for storage.

Crafted from Macassar Ebony wood veneer, the luxurious Symi cabinet by Toan Nguyen was launched earlier this year as part of Fendi Casa’s 2013 Collection. A sliding drawer upholstered in soft “Vermount” leather pulls out to reveal interior shelves and trays.

The  ‘Inside Out’ cabinet by british design duo Fresh West for Joined + Jointed features a graphic illustration of barware that’s designed to show what’s on the inside, on the outside. ‘Inside Out’ is available in blue-grey or grey-white doors, with contrasting colour graphic and body.

Designed and made by cabinetmaker John Galvin, the Highland Park rare whisky drinks cabinet was designed exclusively to house, and safeguard, Highland Park distillery’s Orcadian Vintage Range. The cabinet is made from American Black Walnut with a unique interior featuring rare Purple Heart wood. As well as various drawers and shelves, the design also features a humidor for cigars and a secret compartment for the custom made knife and chopping board.
