Gaufrage Collection by Wolf Gordon Revives French Embossing Technique

As part of its new Gaufrage Collection, Wolf Gordon is introducing three new upholstery textiles composed of 100% mohair. Produced by Vescom, Gaufrage textiles showcase the embossing technique dating from 18th-century France. Wolf Gordon's Gaufrage Collection showcases three classic patterns from Vescom's sister mill, Schellens, located in the Netherlands.

Velvety & Velutinous Embossed Mohair Upholstery Textiles

Three of Schellens' vintage patterns-Corfu, Lido, and Paros-comprise the Gaufrage Collection. These classic designs feature the gaufrage technique, which uses a cylindrical roller to emboss the pattern, giving the textiles depth, softness, and sheen. Corfu is a lengthwise stripe that updates the gaufrage look for contemporary interiors. Lido features a Roman floral design, and Paros showcases a small geometric motif.

Now made of Wolf Gordon's Zanzibar mohair, "which can withstand 80,000 double rubs," the Gaufrage Collection has been "updated for modern purposes" with strength suitable for contract and hospitality venues. The Gaufrage Collection comes in seven colorways dominated by gold, silver, and copper.
