GranTorino

can conjure up images of the classic Ford car, or more recently the Clint Eastwood movie, and these images bring to mind workmanship and the art of a true classic. In the wonderful world of interiors, this is exactly how we'd describe Poltrona Frau's GranTorino sofa.

GranTorino by Poltrona Frau

Designed by Jean-Marie Massaud for Poltrona Frau, the GranTorino is inspired by the world of saddlery and combines the company's Saddle Leather® Extra with fabric. The craftsmanship of this modular sofa is exquisite - hand-cut, hand-shaped leather closely molds the lines and structure of the seat, including the upper part of the backrest. The high, slim armrest is carefully constructed with a leather cover that folds down on the inside and is attached to the frame with elegant steel rivets designed by Poltrona Frau. I love all of its details, especially the spacious trunk-container that doubles as an armrest. It is entirely upholstered in leather and has an elegant, natural oak tray. In addition, the low armrest can be added or removed and is available in fabric or leather upholstery. The cushions, with beautiful horizontal stitching, give the sofa a sense of visual lightness. The backrest cushions are padded with goose down and have separate horizontal chambers for varied, ergonomic comfort. The feet are aluminium with titanium-coloured varnish.

The GranTorino's design covers it all - minimal and bold, comfortable, compact, and well crafted. The two and three-seater sofas can easily be joined up and hooked together with a metal component. Choose from various types of armrest and alternate them as desired. To complement the sofa, specify the swivel chair with a 4-spoke base and a 360° rotation mechanism that automatically returns to the starting position.

The details of the GranTorino are incredibly thoughtful and that's what makes it so inviting.
