Light + Ladder Locally-Sourced Porcelain Planter Collection

Light + Ladder debuted at NY NOW 2013 with an impressive collection of wood, porcelain, and metal works. The Brooklyn-based design company focuses on creating function, high-quality, beautiful pieces with locally sourced materials by local design minds.

Many pieces were showcased at Light + Ladder’s booth, all with a distinctly earthy, minimalist feel, but the porcelain planters stood out as plentiful and lovely. Nearly every wall of the company’s booth had the eggshell-shaped planters hanging elegantly from cotton rope or natural leather, holding blossoming flowers and green plants.

Each planter is hand-sanded until its perfectly smooth, and the interior features a clear glazed finish. All materials, including the natural leather and cotton ropes, are locally sourced from the Brooklyn area and made in Brooklyn by local designers. The planters come in large and small sizes and are available for purchase on Light + Ladder.

About the designer: Light + Ladder is the culmination of founder Farrah Sit’s dream to create a business based on quality, function, beauty and community. The company hopes to represent a return to meaningful consumption by providing artistic, one-of-a-kind, American-made accessories for the home. Each product is inspired by the simplicity of the natural world. The company believes the home should be like a garden, and bringing nature inside with a sleek yet practical approach to luxury. All products are locally sourced and produced, designed by a network of independent artists in Brooklyn, New York.
